We are thrilled to be a part of our community, schools, facility, and excited to see your faces (new and returning). Classes Classes are growing and you now have three (3) options and two types of learning: Saturday mornings with me and Annie (9-11 AM) as well as Saturday and Wednesday evenings with Jenna and JP (6-7:30 PM). To learn more about classes and our club's coaches, please see the expandable sections below. Learn More Classes (Brian) My classes are open to all levels and ages. You can start any Saturday morning of the month and the cost of each class is $10/participant. Each Saturday morning is divided into four 30-minute sections based on your rank (see below) starting with the most advanced (MA-1) and closing things with beginners (C1). Instruction is always held in a group learning environment. As a rule of thumb, the more advanced you are/become, the more floor time you need to warm-up, practice your elements, and learn new elements. All participants start at the C1 level until all elements are demonstrated successfully. Then, you can choose to graduate at the C1 level (20 forward skating elements) or continue on to the C2 level (30 backward skating elements). Since our students come to us with varying ranges of experience, some already knowing how to skate or are doing other roller sports, we encourage all new students (first timers with us) to arrive at (9:45) just in case you move through C1 elements quickly. Regardless of rank, early birds are always welcome. I arrive at 8:45 AM and begin with MA-1 at 9:00 AM. Restrictions: Quads only; Rentals will be issued if needed or deemed better by the coach(es)/apprentice(s). There is no extra cost associated with using rentals. • MA-1 (Athletes): 9-9:30 AM • C3 (Cadets) 9:30-10 AM • C2 (Intermediate): 10-10:30 AM • C1 (Beginners) 10:30-11 AM Languages of instruction (your choice of): English, French, Spanish, Italian, German Classes (Jenna) Jenna's classes are open to all levels, ages, and equipment (quad and inlines) and participants can expect a lean toward learning speed-centric elements and content. She is supported by JP Poupart, speed athlete and our club's assistant coach for speed. Jenna's classes are held are held on Saturdays and Wednesday evenings, both of which are from 6-7:30 PM. Your first month is free. There are two packages available each month thereafter and you can start any day of the month. • $25/Month: Includes all classes • $50/Month: Includes all classes and all public sessions at Fun Nation Please note: Missed classes/public sessions do not roll over (use 'em or lose 'em). About Season Four For Roller Sports (athletes), the competitive season is always September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2025 and applies to Season 4 as well. It covers all domestic (US) competitions/races as well as regionals (artistic) and nationals (speed and artistic) in July 2025. Worlds is held somewhere in the world throughout the month of August, which may be relevant for Jenna (speed athlete and head coach) but in August we generally are already on a much-need vacation, so nothing new there. About the Coaches (Artistic) (Brian Clary) I am Roller Louisiane's President and Head Coach of artistic skating. I am a former member of #teamUSA and athlete at the US Olympic Training Center (USOTC) in Colorado Springs, CO (2001-2003). I specialize in figures, dance, free skating (jumps and spin), and particularly pairs (my passion). I moved to Lafayette in June 2018 from Montréal, Québec, but have made Arnaudville my home since January 2020. I speak, read, write, teach, and live in French, English, Spanish, Italian, and German. I do not teach classes in Portuguese but I am able to communicate :) I am supported by our club's artistic officer and apprentice, Anne "Annie" Mahoney of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, and two consulting coaches: my childhood friend, Siobhan Jordan, of Dallas, Texas (also USOTC) and Sommer Bognar (née Swajger) whose accolades are too numerous to summarize here. Siobhan (Gaelic, pronounced: Shuh-vahn) visits us regularly, always before testing and competitions (so you may see her in classes!) and represents Roller Louisiane as Coach in Figures, Loops, and Dance. Sommer is a childhood friend who is also a coach at my home rink and the club that raised me, Chester Skating Team in Chester, Virginia. About the Coaches (Speed) Jenna Guidry is Roller Louisiane's Vice President and head coach of speed skating. Jenna is a former member of a #teamUSA, who experience also includes training at the US Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She has competed on numerous occasions at the regional, national, and international levels and is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana. JP Poupart is both an active athlete in speed skating (quad and inline) and our club's assistant coach for speed. Like Jenna, he is native to Lafayette and grew up in a family where roller sports (hockey in this case) were prevalent throughout his formative years.
