Bearings are a fundamental component of the skater/athlete’s experience and are often the first component you can update to notice an immediate difference. When choosing bearings for our own ProShop, we paired our trust in Roll-Line with our decision-making along with 30+ years of experience of having used (and broken) all sorts of bearings along the way.
In the end, we narrowed our choices down to just two bearings: Speed Max (this) for frames with 7 MM axles and ABEC 9 for frames with 8 MM axles.
SPEED MAX (7 MM)
This bearing is, in our opinion, the best bearing ever made. It provides optimum roll, less overall attention, and maintenance, and has the longest use of any bearing we’ve used. That’s why we use it in our Solutions—Combos and Complete Skate Packages—wherever the frame in question uses 7 MM axles. They provide high-performance output and are used by the youngest to the most experienced among us—from hobbyists to elite athletes. Session skaters simply don’t know what they’re missing.
TECH SPECS
From the inside out, what sets Speed Max apart is two-fold: First, Speed Max uses 8 spheres, instead of the historical approach of 7 spheres, which when paired with its minimum level of radial movement evenly distributes the load on all 8 spheres, producing an unparalleled level of smoothness and roll—less effort, longer roll. Its longevity and low need of maintenance is due to its reinforced steel casing, making it an 8-sphere cage, immersed in carbon to provide additional self-lubrication. Speed Max’s hermetic bilateral protection prevents dust from entering its inner casing and interrupting its components’ output.

SPACERS
Spacers are not included with the purchase of bearings but their use is strongly recommended by Roll-Line for the following reasons:
- Spacers assist in setting the bearings in a parallel position
- Spacers increase roll; optimize both bearings’ performance (output)
- Spacers reinforce the axle of the frame’s truck is reinforced, thereby reducing the risk of bending or breaking
